Kenny Kozol
Fort Worth - Texas - United States

Kenny Kozol, Seattle native and now Fort Worth, Texas transplant, grew up in a musical home traveling with his family to events around Washington state. With Kenny’s father being an accomplished square dance caller, auctioneer, and accordion player he was surrounded by the southern sound. Kenny begged his parents for a banjo, they responded by signing him up to play accordion with a local church band.

Spending his early days immersed in traditional country, bluegrass, and gospel music Kenny spread his wings for the first time with the sounds of Neil Young, Jim Croce, and James Taylor. Captured by their lyrical prose, Kenny acquired his first guitar and began writing.

While honing his writing craft Kenny organized a country cover band and traveled the NorthWest playing tradional country hits. This gave him the experience he needed as a musician to expand his writing techniques.

“ Every song I write is based on a real life experience. The stories come to me and I just write them down. The more I’ve learned to listen, the better the songs have become.”

After years of finding inspiration with the guitar and banjo Kenny found himself inspired to write under a new voice, the dobro.

“I became intersted in learning the dobro and last year I attended Reso Summit in Nashville, sponsored by Rob Ickes and friends. It was a phenomenal experience. I have always loved the sound of the slide and the dobro gives me a new voice to discover what I may create next.”

In 2013 Kenny sat down with his dobro and pinned “A Brother's Prayer,” a bluegrass/gospel influenced song telling the story of Kenny’s faith in God and his promise to help his brother in prison.

“A Brother's Prayer" is scheduled to release in August along with a video. Kenny's focus now is on completing his new album, though no title or release date has been set.

“My main goal now is to record my songs, touch others through my music and leave a legacy behind for my children. When I write someone a song, it’s the greatest gift I have to give! "
