The seminar and awards show will be held at Arlington Music Hall in Arlington, Texas on March 24 and 25, 2012. The event will not only attract prestigious radio programmers and Texas/Red Dirt superstars, but also music industry experts from within the Texas Music industry as well as Nashville. The seminar is geared towards providing radio programmers with tips and tools to expand their listener base, ratings, programming guidelines and suggestions on increasing revenues.
The awards show returns for the secong legitimate awards based on radio and chart success, touring success and fan input.
Who We Are and Why?
The Texas Regional Radio & Music Association was developed by the Texas Regional Radio Group and will be the avenue by which nominations and voting for the TRR Awards shall be interpreted and decided. Fans and Artists along with the Texas music entertainment industry all have the opportunity to nominate and vote to recognize the artist, broadcasters and industry for the efforts they portray in developing and continuing the Texas/Red Dirt genre.
To have nomination and voting privileges, you must be a member in good standing of the Texas Regional Radio & Music Association (TRRMA). All membership applications are subject to final approval of the Association's Board of Directors.
The TRRMA is always looking for new ways to promote Texas/Red Dirt country music and grow within the industry. Members are the backbone of the organization, and the Group relies on their support to develop programs that exposes the world to not only the best of Texas/Red Dirt music, but also the up-and-coming new artists.
The Texas Regional Radio and Music Association group is an organization formed to promote the Texas/Red Dirt Music scene by co hosting the Awards show and radio seminar with the Texas Regional Radio Report, LLC., presenting awards to the honored artists as well as holding continuing educational panel discussions and sessions for radio on programming and promoting this unique music format to the masses.
This is the second year of the event. For many years, Nashville has held their annual Country Radio Seminar designed to help radio with programming, sales and promotions but there has not been a seminar for radio stations that are geared to our format's specific needs. The founding members of the TRR Music show and Seminar group are Dave Smith of the Texas Regional Radio Chart and Dave Smith Promotions, Gerrie McDowell of Gerrieco, Rick Lovett of Winding Road Music and Tami Millspaugh of Texas Record Chick Promotions, LLC. All the founding members have an extensive background in radio and/or have worked in radio/record promotions and marketing for major record labels over the years. All now work with Texas Regional Radio Chart reporters who have over the years expressed their frustration with programming Texas/Red Dirt Music, declining sales and formatting clocks just to name a few. The committee members saw a need to hold this seminar to help radio accomplish these goals with their limited staffs which in turn will keep Texas/Red Dirt Music flourishing.
The awards show was created to recognize artists in the format for their sacrifices, accomplishments and passion. The Texas Regional Radio Year End chart and database will be used to confirm the nominated artists. Artists who did not chart or debut a single in the qualifying timeframe on the Texas Regional Radio Chart will not qualify for awards. A huge social networking blitz will be sent out to fans to vote on the awards and Texas Regional Radio Chart stations will promote the awards show to their listening audience.
Our event is hosted solely with the intention of providing a quality event for the seminar participants, award winners, award show attendees and the fans and look forward to seeing you at this star studded event.
