Saffire alumna Ms. Adegbalola here recasts the charm and chutzpah of that celebrated blues sisterhood in a highly appealing mix of roots and sophistication. Earthy percussion and roots-bound backup choruses, that at times take very tasty harmonic turns, are key components of one of this young year’s freshest sounding releases.  As one might expect, Ms. A does not back off serious themes in the midst of the congenial fare that populates this set, as the track “The Skittles Blues” proves.  Other standouts include “Fireballn’”, “Giving You My Mojo” and “Eye Candy”.
