From Oklahoma, Cherokee singer-songwriter Kalyn Fay has penned evocative songs and presents them in a deft manner that paints pictures. Her arrangements are austere, and messages are simplistic and straightforward. Fay sings about life’s fundamentals and currents with observations about companionship, heartbreak, memories, determination and struggles. Her folk and Americana arrangements are built with the assistance of about a dozen accompanists, and producer Jesse Aycock contributes greatly to the album’s resourceful moodiness with electric guitar, steel, Dobro, piano and harmonies.
