The remarkably seductive cabaret-noir vibes this London five-piece generated on their debut release, “Suffer It Well”, only intensify on their most recent effort.  The near-omnipresence of vocalist Beth Packer’s accordion surely helps, as does the dominance of minor-keyed songs.  It’s the singer’s compelling and never overplayed delivery, however, that gives this set its sustained, just-under-the surface intensity, turning this entire set into a singular mood piece.  In addition, Ms. Packer shows more than a little blues savvy on the “after hours” vocal/guitar duo “Numb”.  Other standouts include “Blow Your Horn”, “Small Town” and “Dark Rum By Moonlight”.
