With the world in such a mixed-up state of affairs as we go through the last third of the year, it’s worth slowing down to smell the roses and what better way than with the 2020 CD called Healing Resonance, from the dynamic trio of Dean Evenson (silver flutes, keys), Scott Huckabay (acoustic guitars, handpan) and Phil Heaven (viola, keys). Healing Resonance may be considered as instrumental New Age music, yet it’s also quite therapeutic and healing in that this music includes alpha frequencies and the 'Earth Resonance Frequency' of 7.83 hertz to enhance brainwave synchronization for deeper relaxation. Of course all this would matter not if the music wasn’t so skillfully conceived, which it is. Assisting these three gifted musicians are several other fine artists including Doug Tessler (flutes, recorders) and Dudley Evenson (harp). Liner notes by Scott Huckabay shines a light on the long-term relationship between these musicians while reminding the listener that this music is both a prayer and an offering to give back to the Earth, even as we face an uncertain future.
