The calendar may say 2020 but don’t tell that to guitarist Stuart Cosgrove, band leader and brain trust of U.K. guitar rockers The Epitones. Back in 2013, The Epitones released Blue Heaven and now in 2020, they’re back with a fantastic album of all-instrumental guitar magic called Last Horizon. Stuart is a huge fan of England’s great  instro rockers The Shadows, and he cranks up the reverb on an album that would very much please long-time fans of the original sound of The Shadows circa 1961. Stuart's guitar work is simply on fire and the sound he recreates on these timeless nuggets will blow away long time Hank Marvin fans. Even casual fans will know tracks here including, “Beyond The Sea”, “Twilight Time”, “Theme From A Summer Place” and many more, including a killer instrumental of “Shakin’ All Over”. Covers of Pink Floyd’s “Money” and a Queen medley seems out of place and some of the canned drumming lessens the impact. Even with that minor drawback, clearly the guitar sound is fully intact on an album that not only serves as a music history lesson, but is actually essential listening for Shadows fans, all hailing from a kinder, gentler time in music history. Guitar fans don’t miss Last Horizon by The Epitones, featuring guitarist Stuart Cosgrove. Email Stuart: CallMeStuartCosgrove@hotmail.co.uk
