While female vocalists have provided much of the new energy to blues in recent years, Georgie Bonds here takes broad strides to hold up the fellas’ share of the burden.  While decidedly “old school” in style, the Philadelphia-based singer brings plenty of here-and-now punch and urgency to his work.  He’s also fallen in with an appropriately funky crew of players, a couple of which are respectable songwriters as well.  Standout tracks include “Daily News”, “Dyin’ Is The Easy Way” and “The Blacksmith”.
