A legend of the jazz guitar world for decades, Chicago music great George Freeman, now at age 96 has released what very well might be his finest album yet.

Recorded in 2022, The Good Life was released in 2023 on NYC based HighNote Records. The 7-cut, 51 minute album features George Freeman in fine form serving up the guitarcentric sounds in two distinctive jazz trios.

Trio one, featured on the first three tracks, includes George backed by keyboardist Joey DeFrancesco and drummer Lewis Nash, while the four additional tracks pairs George with bass ace Christian McBride and drummer Carl Allen.

Musically, on The Good Life, you would be hard-pressed to find a more relaxing set of guitar-centric instrumentals played by true masters of the jazz idiom.

Delivered with expertise and self-confidence, the title track “The Good Life”, written in 1962, and the CD opener “If I Had You”, written in 1928, have been long renowned as perennial jazz favorites, while all the other tracks here are George Freeman originals.

Like other musical Nonagenarians before him, George Freeman seems to excel in every era of music history and The Good Life will no doubt delight his many long-time fans as well as newcomers to the George Freeman guitar experience.
