Chock-full with mandolin, trumpet, and ukulele coupled with standard pop-rock instrumentation apparatus of guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, the music The Ruffled Feathers creates is resourceful and enthusiastic enough to justify the “chamber pop” label that the quintet has adopted. The album Oracles is filled with reflections on Chinese history “Canals of Suzhou”, ill-fated rebellion “Blueprints for Our Failed Revolution”, as well as perfectly distorted personal drama. The quintet have beautifully crafted female vocals, harmonies, and brazen horns. Focus tracks include "All My Cities", "Mockingbird", and "The Ghost of Bear Creek".
