Clarinetist David Krakauer’s jazz tribute to film music is, at turns, lightheartedly funky, appealingly oddball or soulfully sentimental.  In all cases, he and his ensemble place a unique and intriguing stamp upon a set of themes seemingly chosen more often for their potential than their familiarity.  Just the same, he offers up evocative readings of “Body and Soul”- a tribute to Woody Allen’s Radio Days- and the Funny Girl smash, “People”.  Violinist Jenny Scheinman is a standout in Krakuer’s supporting cast.
