Lyrics
Sunburst Stratocaster
He strapped it on and played a song
The day he brought it home
Could make you blind the way it shined
Just like his dome of chrome..he’d say
If Stevie Ray still can play
Up there in the Hereafter
There ain’t no doubt he’s rocking out
On a Sunburst Stratocaster
Every night he’d tuck us tight
Then when the coast was clear
He’d pick and stamp without his amp
Thinking none of us could hear…he’d say
When its way, way past the day
They put me out to Pasture
Just bury me with my old LP’s
And this Sunburst Stratocaster
Now he’d strut and sneer into the mirror
For fans that were not there…smoking
Keith Richards without hair
I was stumped by it just a little bit
Until he let me hold ‘er
That’s when i found I was heaven bound
Guitar strapped round my shoulder
When its way, way past the day
They put me out to Pasture
Just bury me with my old CD’s
And this Sunburst Stratocaster
Now sometimes when I’m missing him
I pretend I’ve got his ear
I sit and pick his favourite licks
And yell so…yell so he can hear
If there’s any way you still can play
Up there in the Hereafter
There ain’t no doubt you’re rocking out
On a Sunburst Stratocaster
One day you bet we’ll play a duet
To last forever after
