About the Album

Founded on a front porch in 2007 near historic Richmond, Virginia, THE BUSH LEAGUE takes their recipe of funk, country, rock, soul and gospel and dumps it all in a generous bullion of blues gumbo and serves it up from the porches of Richmond to the Hill Country of Mississippi to the juke joints on the World Famous Beale Street in Memphis all the way back to the historic porches of Appomattox Court House, Virginia and ery’where in between.  And so here we are...again- with THE BUSH LEAGUE serving up their #RVABlues that people have come to know and love on their 3rd studio album but first acoustic record.  With the help of some friends and family, THE BUSH LEAGUE pays homage to the some of the legends and trailblazers of the Blues like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mississippi Sheiks, Skip James, RL Burnside, Charley Patton and Junior Kimbrough as well as mixing in some originals that focus on the Blues of NOW which are just as poignant as the Blues of THEN.  Reaching back to go forward. Here we are...again.

Thank You from JohnJay:  Thank you to the ancestors; those beautiful black and brown angels that found hope in a situation intentionally made hopeless. They created AMERICAN MUSIC (i.e BLUES) while creating AMERICA and far too many were never thanked before they sang their last song or played their last note. I hope you hear me...Thank you to the people who recognize and accept and CELEBRATE the fact that THE BLUES IS BLACK MUSIC. Thank you to my loving wife Pam and my kids Jlynn, Asa and Aiden for their understanding and support over the years. Thank you Cindy for schlepping the merch and being the best co-pilot EVER.  Thank you Shane for coming back and thank you Royce for not leaving. Thank you Manager Extraordinaire KENYA WATKINS for, well, EVERYTHING. Without you THE BUSH LEAGUE would NEVER have gotten as far as we have industry-wise or geographically and you are appreciated for that. Good job, Watkins...good job.
