About the Album
Mean Old Fireman & the Cruel Engineers are pleased to announce the independent release of their debut CD, Box 1. Featuring the innovative slide guitar work of Ned Bollé, Box 1 features original instrumental tracks by Ned that span diverse genres from blues and rock, to Latin, Fusion and Meth-Grass.
“After an extended hiatus from playing out, it’s a privilege to have work with such a talented group of players to bring this music to life” – Ned Bollé
Ned moved to the Boston area to study at Berklee College of Music in the ‘70’s and worked the regional music scene, sharing the stage with the likes of Tom Hambridge and Matt “Guitar” Murphy. After taking a break from music (and working as a Firefighter and Paramedic), he joined forces with veteran players Rick Plourde (Brian Maes Band), Joey Pafumi (XYZ, Walter Trout, Paul Nelson Band) and Chuck Whiting to pull together his sonic vision in “Box 1”.
Recorded in 2018-19 at The Bridge Sound and Stage in Cambridge, Box 1 was Co-produced by Ned and Alex Allinson (who also handled the engineering and mastering).
