About the Album

In Hot Harmonica Hokum Mad Dog Friedman, performing as Mad Dog Blues, brings the playful, medicine show spirit of solo blues harmonica into the 21st century with grit, groove and grin. This album revives a rare American tradition—marking the first full-length, unaccompanied harmonica and voice album to be recorded since J.C. Burris’ landmark 1975 LP, One of These Mornings.

Special Thanks

Every track on Hot Harmonica Hokum was cut entirely in single takes with no multi-tracking. Mad Dog Friedman composed, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered all tracks. The album art and design are also by Mad Dog (aka M. D.) Friedman. Deep gratitude to Gus Harless for handcrafting the Shaker Mad Dog Harmonica Microphone that captured every nuance of the harmonicas.
