About the Album

Originally from Chicago, Lauren now calls Kansas City home. Following the successful of her debut EP, Lauren and her band spent the year playing shows around the Midwest with international touring bands such as Nick Moss, Mike Zito, Walter Trout, Tommy Castro, as well as Kansas City favorites like Katy Guillen & the Girls. Lauren was also named 2015 “Vocalist of the Year” by the Midwest Music Awards.

Lauren began recording her self-produced, full length album in January 2015. It features songs written throughout her life and sheds light on the struggles of love, growth and following your dreams. The album demonstrates the diversity of her musical influences, ranging from blues to jazz and from rock to folk. Her powerful and emotionally-charged vocals, paired with her introspective lyrics, welcomes listeners to share her experiences and join her on her journey. And guest musicians such as Go-Go Ray, Shinetop, and Kristopher and Nick Schnebelen guarantee that “Truly Me” will be one of the top album’s of the year.

“Lauren Anderson played a 1:30 a.m. set in one of the Kansas City showcase rooms. Barefoot with guitar, she busked through several high-energy rock-soul tunes. She has a powerful voice, one that bears some resemblances to Melissa Etheridge or Janis Joplin. According to her Facebook page, she is in a fourpiece band that includes drummer Kristopher Schnebelen, formerly of Trampled Under Foot. She bears watching.” ~ Tim Finn, The Kansas City Star

Special Thanks

Writing, recording and producing a CD is a humbling, exhausting and extremely rewarding process. I can honestly say I would not have made it through the entire process without help from so many people. First of all, thank you to my family who has supported my crazy dreams and passions throughout my entire life. You have always believed in me and for that I am truly thankful. Thank you to my band mates (past and present), Dylan Reiter, Adam Stuber, Jeff Daniels, Kristopher Schnebelen, Derek Tucker and every single substitute throughout the many shows in this past year. Leading a band can be stressful and confusing and you guys have continuously supported me throughout it all. Thank you to Duane Trower, my engineer at Weights and Measures Soundlab, and to every musician who agreed to be a part of this project: Nick Schnebelen, Go-Go Ray, Shinetop, Mark Anderson, Garrett Schaberg, Mike Walker, and Christine Gross. And last but not least, thank you to each and every past relationship, all of my patients, students, teachers, and co-workers, my education, friends, pets and every other stressor – both negative and positive – I’ve ever experienced. You are truly the best muse out there.
