Monikers assigned to the newcomers in the pop, rock, and hip-hop/R&B genres are anything but run-of-the-mill labels - "Velvet," "Fly," "Turbo," and "Poptropolis." SiriusXM senior vice president and general manager of music programming Steve Blatter comments, "Our lineup of commercial-free music channels continues to evolve to meet the changing tastes of our growing subscriber base and to satisfy the next generation of core subscribers. Several of the new channels feature music and artists from a period when many of our subscribers first connected with this music. These new and innovative radio formats make our broad range of music channels stronger than ever." On channel 13, "Velvet" features contemporary pop vocalists by artists such as Adele, Beyoncé, Adam Lambert, John Legend, Idina Menzel, and Sam Smith. "Fly" over on channel 47 plays hip-hop and R&B from the 1990s and 2000s. Representative artists include Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, Outkast, and P. Diddy. On channel 300, "Poptropolis" features pop hits from the 1980s through 2000s; Kelly Clarkson, Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael, Alanis Morissette, and Pink are among the core artists. "Turbo" over on channel 314 plays hard rock from the 1990s and 2000s by artists such as Godsmack, Korn, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and System Of A Down. Yesterday (Thursday, 8/13) on channel 18, SiriusXM introduced "Limited Edition," the home for limited-run channels such as "Road Trip Radio," which features summer driving tunes - a mix of music from all genres and eras.
