In the past two years Putumayo's digital presence has grown considerably, creating new opportunities and renewed enthusiasm for our core mission of introducing people to music from diverse cultures. Given the vast ocean of music now available in the age of streaming, the need for curation has only increased. Putumayo's successful playlists have made it one of the most followed record labels on Spotify in any genre. The label's classic album recreations, launched in August, have gone viral with many millions of views on YouTube. The new Putumayo Discovery series has helped under-represented artists find new audiences and generate additional revenue.
Over the last 30 years, millions of people have grown to trust Putumayo to select and present exceptional music from around the world. With the growing success of our digital efforts, we have made the decision to no longer release new CDs and to focus our efforts on an expanded number of digital-only collections. We recognize that our album artwork, liner notes and non-traditional retail distribution have long been an important part of the Putumayo identity but, with digital music, Putumayo can now release 24 diverse digital albums rather than only 4 CDs each year.
Now, the same interesting information about the artists and music included in our CD packages is available through the Musician Spotlights page on their website. Putumayo's new partnership with the digital distributor Revelator, continued collaboration with digital distributor MNRK and ongoing direct-to-consumer sales through our Bandcamp store, has enabled Putumayo to make more exceptional music available to far more people around the world than ever before.
