About the Band
LOWDOWN DIRTY MOJOS, hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, are led by founding members Paul Wootton (vocals and guitar) and Stephen Foster (guitar and vocals).
They are rounded out by Robert Jarovi (piano and organ) and a powerhouse rhythm section featuring Kevin Christoff (bass and vocals) and Claude Desroches (drums). Since the release of their debut album Screamin’ Hoodoos R’n’B, Lowdown Dirty Mojos have delivered a unique and powerful sound. They have shared the stage with notable artists such as Chris Spedding, Chilliwack, and Chuck Jackson, performing at Roots & Blues festivals, as well as street and arts festivals including Wasaga Beach Blues Festival and It’s Your Festival. The band has also appeared at Blues Society events and in clubs, both large and small, throughout Southern Ontario.
With the release of their second album, Stone Cold Groovers, and supported by strong radio airplay for their song “Mystic Highway 6,” they earned a Maple Blues Award in 2022. Their third album, Down’n’Dirty, was released to rave reviews, further expanding their reach with national radio play and international exposure in the United Kingdom, United States, and Spain. Their first three albums feature all-original material heavily influenced by 1960s Rockin’ Rhythm’n’Blues. Their fourth album, Lucky 7, is a collection of R&B songs spanning from the 1920s to the present day, featuring covers of artists such as Mavis Staples, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Huey “Piano” Smith, and Ike & Tina Turner.
