Los Angeles, CA – January 21, 2022 – Locally renowned singer-songwriter, Nick Andrea brings his unique style of blues infused with rock and jazz influences to his latest solo release, “Superstition.” Nick is joined by 2020 International Blues Challenge semi-finalist Truth Jones in a power-packed vocal duo that leads the song into unprecedented territory.
Coming on the heels of his recent solo releases “Half-of-a-Man” and “It Will Rain Again,” Superstition is featured on Nick’s debut album Blues @ Dark a bold expedition into the blues universe infused with rock and jazz flavorings. The album is currently slated for a March 2022 release on vinyl and CD.
“Superstition” is a blues-rock reinvention of the famed original underscored by Nick’s searing, gritty vocals. One year in the making, the single required over 80 individual tracks, with more than 9 contributing musicians, including Grammy-winning guitarist Ricky Z and a scorching solo by Craig T. Fall, who accompanied Stevie Wonder as his guitarist from the 1970s.
Other contributors include veteran session musicians Gary Swan on keys and David Grover on bass who have collectively performed with well-known acts such as Deep Purple, The Pointer Sisters and Chaka Kahn among many others.
As Nick put it when describing the process for bringing the song to life, "I wanted to bring a new feel to an old classic and to do that I needed a great arrangement to be played by great musicians. I got both!" Nick continues to draw praise for his smooth but gritty lead vocals, described as “velvet sandpaper” by producer/arranger Craig T. Fall (Eldora Grande Studios). Nick began playing trumpet as a young boy, before taking a 30-year break to pursue a successful law career. He came back to create the now-defunct indie blues duo, Law & Chaos, and today forges ahead as a solo artist to innovate while remaining true to traditional musical roots
