Singer-songwriter Terry Draper made inroads way back when as a member of the late 1970’s Canadian progressive rock band Klaatu. In the same adventurous spirit, Terry has maintained an impressive solo career that has yielded 15+ solo albums on various labels and true to form, his 2020 album Lost is very much in the Beatles spirit of mixing art-rock and conceptual prog. The CD sound is first rate and the band Terry has assembled is also first rate, including guitarist and recording artist in his own right, Jamie Hoover and along those lines, you can easily see how Terry Draper’s music going back to the Klaatu years, could influence artists like Jamie. What’s even more impressive is that Terry has an enormous back catalog of more prog-pop and rock CDs. After setting the music world alight in 1977 with Klaatu, Terry later worked in the construction and restaurant world. Since he returned to recording as a solo artist, he’s produced a litany of classic pop and prog music and Lost is right up there as perhaps Terry Draper’s finest album yet.
