The sweet sounds of country-rock are alive and well on Coastology the 2019 album by Nilsen’s Southern Harmony. Released by the Rambler Records label, the ten track CD is a solid showcase for the bands lead vocalist, guitar ace and chief songwriter Bjoern Nilsen. Based in the Scandinavian country of Norway, Nilsen’s Southern Harmony sounds very influenced by any number of American country music artists, yet the CD is put together with so much panache and expertise, you would never suspect they’re from Norway. No offense to Norway as it’s one of the most musical countries in Northern Europe. Lead-off track “Yesterday’s Things” is a most effective track to introduce this album. Co-produced by Bjoern and Ernst Nikolaisen, Coastology also features a wide range of musicians including Ernst, who adds in a range of instruments – from drums to keyboards. A very colorful album, Coastology is a splendid introduction to the modern country rock music of Nilsen’s Southern Harmony.
