A splendid convergence of vocal skill, material and production occurs on this Houston-bred singer’s new offering. Teresa James tweaks a most pleasing, easy-going vocal exterior with a measured intensity to accommodate the needs of each song, making for fetching readings on every track.  And there’s not a slouch present among the song list, packed primarily with producer/bassist Terry Wilson’s originals and collaborations.  Production conjures Willie Mitchell atmospherics, enhancing standout tracks including “Takes One To Know One”, “All You Ever Bring Me Is The Blues” and “Gimme Some Skin”.  A year’s-best candidate.
