For those not familiar with piano man Mitch Woods’ 2017 duet feature get-together, it’s back and, along with the constant good vibes generated by the blues-and-boogie piano wiz & a cavalcade of guests, some standout moments. Included in these are a predictably soul-tugging vocal by Van Morrison on “Take This Hammer”- this being the one threesome configuration also featuring Taj Mahal, lowdown pairings with Elvin Bishop- “Keep A Dollar In Your Pocket” and John Hammond- “Mother-In-Law Blues”, and a deep, dusky torcher “Cryin’ For My Baby” enhanced with harp work from Charlie Musselwhite.  The 2023 “deluxe” version includes previously unreleased fare featuring Maria Muldaur, Joe Louis Walker and others as well.
