Raphael Wressnig is a well-known keyboard and B3 organ player in his native Austria where his heart and soul breathe American style instrumental R&B. In the 1960's spirit of Booker T. and Steve Cropper, Raphael and his recording partner guitarist from NYC Alex Schultz reinterpret Christmas standards turning them into a Southern Fried musical gumbo.

Released on vinyl and CD, the 9-track Soulful Christmas (with a Funky Twist), is a modern day Christmas music classic. The usual fare, from “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” to “The Little Drummer Boy” and back again, are re-explored for younger ears that might have missed the instrumental R&B, funk and soul explosion of the late 1960s through the mid ‘70s.

There’s a combined R&B, soul, blues and gospel feel to these tracks, giving them a kind of reverential treatment. Wressnig and Schultz have recorded a number of albums together before and on the 2023 CD release of Soulful Christmas (with a Funky Twist), they have made their definitive holiday offering.
