Introduced to music fans by way of her vocal performances on several recent albums by New Age keyboardist Steven Halpern and also from her work with Global music ensemble Bella Gaia, NY-based singer songwriter Kristin Hoffmann released RainShine in 2023 although some music fans are just catching up with it now.

A masterpiece of slow-moving, epic soundscapes, RainShine incorporates elements of New Age healing music, contemporary neo-classical, World Music and more. Kristin describes RainShine as being “super slow, emotive, cathartic and healing."

The purpose of the album is clear, with Kristin stating, “In making this album, I listen to the pure nature of my soul and let it be born into music - this album is what it sounds like. I’m making this record to honor my path as a spiritual being living life in this world… in a body… with all of the shadows and light that comes with navigating that journey.”

Musically, the 7-track, 40 minute album contains many highlights, including the 6+ minute title track and the soaring wordless vocals of “Big Breath”. With her classically trained neo-operatic vocalizations, Kristin’s voice takes on a wealth of different sound qualities.

Featuring a mix of vocal songs that blend in other mostly vocal / instrumental tracks, RainShine was, performed, arranged, produced, engineered and mixed by Kristin, who performs a range of instruments including piano, synths and string programming, monalina, lead vocals, and backing vocals.

RainShine also features a number of supporting musicians including Mathias Kunzli (drums), Ustad Kamal Sabri (sarangi, vocals), Darian Cunning (guitars), Jeff Oster (muted trumpet), Premik Russell Tubbs (flute and programmed symphonic bass) and Karen Olson (viola), while other artists appear further giving the album its radiant sonic glow.
