The good vibes emanating from these early 2000’s recordings seem to spill over the edges as the venerable guitarist/vocalist and cronies lay down groove after solid groove.  High-spirited “blow” choruses arrive in abundance courtesy of players including saxophonist Doug James, pianist Matt McCabe, trombonist Pam Murray and, of course, Mr. Robillard.  Ballads are a particular treat- Joe Turner’s “I Know You Love Me” and the leader’s own “Just Kiss Me” and “My Plea”.  Good stuff!
