Soon as the early 1970s unfolded, UK rock legends The Who seized the moment, not only with Who's Next but also with the debut solo Lp by John Entwistle, affectionately known as "The Ox". First released on the UK Track Records imprint in 1971, the album release of Smash Your Head Against The Wall was almost a rock blueprint for every song the Who released until Keith Moon’s untimely death in late 1978.

Speaking about plundering the John Entwistle songbook as well as producing and performing on the 17-track Sing Wistle Tunes, Think Like A Key Music label chief Roger Houdaille explains, Entwistle has always been a musical hero of mine—not just as a bassist, but as a songwriter. I’ve always felt that, overshadowed by the mighty Townshend in The Who, his contributions to songwriting don’t get the recognition they deserve. This project is my small way of keeping his legacy alive. I’m not just a fan—his style naturally aligns with mine. With a few strategic key changes, because he sings way too high!, it was fun and rewarding material to cover.”

For the 17-track CD release of Ex-Norwegian And Friends Present Sing Wistle Tunes, Roger Houdaille, leader of the band spearheads many of the tracks here with his vocals, guitars and re-arrangements on this Best of John Entwistle covers album.

So who else appears with the Ex-Norwegian Roger on this rare album tribute to the late great Who co-founder and bass guitar legend John Entwistle? Roger further explains, Originally, I’d envisioned having more guests involved, but it ended up being mostly me under the Ex-Norwegian banner. It was really a choice between spending another year on it or getting it out there. The timely reissue of his catalog this summer gave me the push I needed. Still, I was fortunate to have some amazing contributions from John Howard, Fernando Perdomo, Keith Smart, and two great tracks submitted by SUPER 8 and God Bless The Evil Child. It’s been a labor of love, and I hope it gives fans of his music something fun to listen to.”

The cover art and packaging of the CD is equally imaginative and colorful. With a number of guest artists appearing on different tracks, start to finish Ex-Norwegian And Friends Present Sing Wistle Tunes is a well-done performance and a superbly crafted recording of classic Entwistle covers from Ex-Norwegian and his talented friends.
