Longtime Emmylou Harris sideman Phil Madeira serves up a roadhouse-ready set, lyrically rich and true to the roots.  The Nashville-based guitarist/vocalist’s modest, laid-back delivery consistently succeeds in getting old-school sentiments across.  His “boss lady” tribute, “Hippie Chick Singer”, should garner attention as should the ear-grabbing “If I Was Jesus” and the haunting “The Ghosts of Belle Meade Boulevard”.  Mr. M moves from the roadhouse to the penthouse with a stylish, set closing ballad “One More Love Song”.  Real good stuff here.
