Working a fixed range and marking her turf with strategic sustains, hesitations and vibrato, the Polish-born Ms. Pater fashions a distinctive and quite compelling vocal persona.  The sparing piano and bass accompaniment present complements her focus and finishes out a most enchanting minimalist jazz experience.  There are swinging moments- “Save Your Love For Me”- but this is primarily a ballad feast.  Check out “Wild Is The Wind”, “I Live To Love You” and the title track.
