Nashville-based guitarist Beth Garner dresses up her decidedly Dixie-tinged vocals with well-placed soul backup choruses and sports her twin-threat axe work up front of an extremely tough little backup band.  Her originals and collaborations are an extremely tasty lot, highlighted by the simmering r&b leadoff track, “Alright By Me”, its catchy follow-up, “Backroads Freddie” and a rock-solid shuffle slide feature, “Used To Be”. Ms. G’s slightly off-center reading of the Ray Wylie Hubbard-penned title track is a particular treat.
