Dancer and jazz vocalist Lucia Jackson was born in New York and raised in Spain, attending the Professional Dance Conservatory of Madrid and prestigious school of Musica Creativa. Returning to New York at age 18 to pursue dance and music as her career, she has worked with FJK Dance Company and Dardo Galletto Dance.  Her debut album “You and the Night and the Music” is a wonderful showcase of her impressive singing talent. She and her first-rate quartet of accompanists cover many musical moods with American songbook standards, creatively arranged by her father, guitarist and producer Ron Jackson. She’s also joined by Yago Vazquez (piano), Matt Clohesy (double bass) and Corey Rawls (drums). Special guests on a few tracks include Dan Garcia (classical guitar), Samuel Torres (percussion), Javier Sanchez (bandoneon), Frederika Krier (violin) and Yaacov Mayman (saxophone). I especially enjoyed those cuts like “I’m a Fool to Want You” and “Feel the Love” that incorporate flamenco and bossa nova flavorings. She also puts her own distinctive stamp on tunes like Duke Ellington’s “Sophisticated Lady” and the swinging “No Regrets” and “Just One of Those Things.” Jackson is a magnetic singer whose voice is immediately appealing. Now only 26, and with youthful energy and colorful flair, she is sure to build a legion of fans as she pursues her dream in the arts.  (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
