Belgian singer-songwriter Kris "Kirri" Valvekens is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, harmonica, percussion) who’s made a name for himself with his Neil Diamond and Fleetwood Mac tribute shows.  Released in 2013, Volume “1/One” of Kirri’s Travelin’ Kitchen Jam featured four musicians presenting six originals with elements of rock, pop, blues, swing, zydeco and funk. Now, in 2019, “Little Somethings” continues Kirri’s Americana-based roots music approach with a leaner, rawboned recording presenting eight songs. Recorded live on a sunny afternoon “where a jam led to creative and spontaneous recording sessions,” this album captures the energy and enthusiasm of these musicians collaborating and conversing. Kirri is joined by Dirk Lekenne (guitar, backing vocals, percussion) who also recorded and produced the album. Whether the primary messages are to “party ‘til the break of day” or “it’s high time for movin’ on,” Kirri wants us to know about his life. “Too Hot, Too Wet” is a nice closer, with its prominently featured blues harp, that keeps the party going.  (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
