Ronnie Earl’s profoundly eloquent guitar speaks individually to each tune here; his lead and solo work sounding carefully sculpted to the needs of the song at hand, his bright tone, fluidity and bite ever present.  And the song selections are a treat in themselves, with vintage blues such as Howlin’ Wolf’s “Baby How Long” and Little Walter’s “Blues With A Feeling” bumping up against 70’s soul gems “Why Can’t We Live Together” and “Brand New Me” and a duet cover of Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes a Train To Cry” featuring David Bromberg.  Kim Wilson also guests and band vocalist Diane Blue turns in her usual splendid work.
